Celebrating World Mental Health Day
To highlight and celebrate World Mental Health Day, (on Saturday
10th October) Anne Bond, Day Services
Manager, along with staff and volunteers from Friendship's Resource
Cafés, which supports people with mental health needs in Nuneaton,
Bedworth and North Warwickshire were busy organising various events
and activities during the course of the week.
Bedworth’s Wellbeing Station played host to
a social coffee morning on Monday (5th) providing
information on Friendship’s new Direct Payment 1:1 Support
Service. An Adult and Community Learning taster workshop
included sign language and creative craft sessions on Wednesday
(7th). Thursday (8th) was Quiz
night at the Hartshill Members Club in Victoria Road,
Nuneaton.
The quiz was put together by volunteers, it
was open to teams of four, attracting fifteen teams from around the
region and included a raffle and tombola stall. The fun event
turned out to be a fiercely competitive, but the final trophy went
to the victors of the evening ‘Croptastic’. ‘Team Croptastic’
included Friendship staff members Andy Wesson, Terry Morris and
Robert Beasley.
Anne said “It’s was an extremely busy week
for us all, but well worth the effort if we succeed in promoting
greater public awareness and understanding of mental health and
mental illness.”
