The Big Tidy Up - Sparkbrook
Friendship’s Housing Officer, Tracey Withers
rallied volunteers together to support litter collecting sessions
in the streets of Sparkbrook in Birmingham in March 2009.
Braithwaite Road and Gladstone Road benefitted
from the clean up efforts of children and teachers from local
Christchurch School, residents, the police, fire brigade,
environmental wardens, neighbourhood support wardens and housing
officers. Friendship’s MD Jonathan Driffill also joined the
volunteers to lend a hand.
Keep Britain Tidy is calling on residents the
length and breadth of England to do their bit to improve the
quality of their communities.
The 2009 Big Tidy Up launched at the beginning of April and is
aiming to build on last year's success when it established itself
as the Country's biggest ever litter pick.
Since its launch in September 2008 more than 12,000 groups have
registered and collected almost 24,000 bags of rubbish.
