More affordable homes in Derby
Despite the inclement weather, Councillor
Mr Robert Troup, Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Protection
from Derby City Council sliced the ceremonial ribbon with a
flourish as he announced the completion of Friendship’s new housing
development in Palmerston Street, situated close to the heart of
Derby.
Guests at the ceremony were brought in from
the rain and treated to a guided tour of the new properties which,
are ‘secured by design’ and achieved an Eco Standard ‘very good’
rating.
Friendship’s Managing Director, Jonathan
Driffill said “The scheme has been a pleasure to deliver, with no
complications to speak of.” He thanked everyone involved for their
contribution and celebrated the working partnership with Derby City
Council. He said “With another development for 39 units
underway in Ashbourne Road, this demonstrates our commitment to
providing high quality, affordable homes for local people.”
Cllr Troup commented “It has been a personal
ambition of mine to see more affordable housing in the area and I
am delighted to see this development come to fruition and look
forward to seeing many more.”
