Care and Support

More than 900 people benefit from our care and support services.

Our person-centered planning focuses on individual needs and preferences.  A large part of the support involves listening to a person; acting on what they say, about how they wish to live their lives and taking steps to enable them to do as much as they can for themselves.  The mental health services aim to promote and work to a recovery model and the learning disability services promote ideals within the Valuing People White Paper, promoting citizenship and independence.  Our map of the East and West Midlands shows where we operate care and support services.

Our seven registered care homes in Birmingham and four in Warwickshire are run to the highest standards laid down by the National Care Standards Commission and inspected regularly.  A dedicated skilled team is trained to deliver a high level of practical care and support that promotes dignity, respect and independence.

Our support services meet different types and degree of needs, addressing learning disabilities; mental health; women; young people; older persons; families and general support to our tenants.  The scale ranges from moderate dependency supported housing schemes to occasional visits – perhaps just once a month – to individuals living independently.  These services are funded through the Government’s Supporting People programme and focuses on housing related support.  The support is organised and delivered based in the needs of the specific client group and indeed individual.

Our other services include Mental Health Day services in Warwickshire and advocacy services in Birmingham and Sandwell.  We have a carers support service, funded through South Birmingham PCT and we opened a mental health crisis house in Warwickshire during 2007.  In addition we managed a number of Supported Living Services in Bedworth, Nuneaton, Coventry and Birmingham.

We employ nearly 400 people in care and support services.  A few of these are in central management and administration, but the vast majority work directly with service users.  We are always on the look-out for new staff.  If you are looking for challenging rewarding work that really makes a difference to people's lives, please visit our Working With Us page.
