Lecturer in Sociology and Social Policy

Surinder joined Friendship in 2001 due to her interest in equality and social justice issues. Having previously worked as an Advice and Community Worker at the Asian Resources Centre in Handsworth and currently teaching Sociology and Social Policy on Social Work and Social Policy courses at the University of Birmingham, Surinder has some knowledge about housing, social care and Equality developments over the years, as well as the impact of government policies and responses to social events and issues in general. Hence, these areas are of particular interest to Surinder on the Friendship Board, as well as generally ensuring that Friendship does its very best for the people it is designed to serve. Surinder is an active member of the Equalities and Diversity Committee and also of the Staff Satisfaction Working Group.
